Cotton Tree Foundation

Whestone Minerals is committed to taking a leadership role in socially responsible corporate practices. To this end, the company joins Clarity Capital in its support of the The Cotton Tree Foundation (CTF).  The Cotton Tree Foundation, which focuses on local business creation in rural communities, has embarked on a flagship initiative involving the economic empowerment of small scale miners.  This initiative called the  Eco Milling Project  provides small scale miners with a safe, fair and environmentally responsible ways to process their gold.

From this initial programme other business activities within communities, not necessarily directly related to mining, will be seeded.  To assist community members and small scale miners with the training and skills necessary to create small businesses, the Cotton Tree Foundation has engaged the Zimbabwe Opportunity Industrialisation Centres (ZOIC).

Once successfully implemented in North Matabeleland, these programmes will serve as a model to be launched in other regions where Whetstone and the Clarity Group operates.
