Western Warrior Intersects Multiple
High-Grade Gold Zones In Diamond Drilling At The Wampum Prospect
Calgary, Alberta (TSX Venture: WWR), March 25, 2008 -
Western Warrior Resources Inc. ("Western Warrior") is pleased to
provide an update from its ongoing exploration of the Wampum Prospect, one of
23 high priority gold occurrences located on its Pipestone Project. The Wampum
Prospect has been the recent focus of exploration activity by Western Warrior
and is located 40 kilometres northeast of Nestor
Falls in northwest Ontario.
To date, assay results have been received from five drill holes completed
(WL07-01 to WL07-05) on the eastern end of the South Zone of the Wampum
Prospect with high grade gold mineralization intersected in four holes. The
mineralization is associated with a silica-carbonate altered metavolcanic
sequence and open on strike and dip. Results from holes WL07-06 to WL07-10 are
pending. Drilling continues with a total of 18 holes planned at Wampum. The
prospect is part of the extensive Pipestone Project; 100% owned by Western
Warrior.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Hole WL07-01 intersected
1.81 g/t Au over 6.10 metres and includes 9.10 g/t Au over 0.77 metres.
- Hole WL07-02 intersected
9.05 g/t Au over 2.81 metres and includes 19.84 g/t Au over 0.73 metres.
This hole also intersected 106.19 g/t Au over 0.70 metres in a separate
interval.
- Hole WL07-05 intersected
3.57 g/t Au over 3.87 metres and includes 10.88 g/t Au over 0.61 metres.
- Re-sampling of historic
drill hole WA6 yielded 6.96 g/t Au over 2.35 metres.
- Chip sampling of
historic trench TR2 yielded 4.65 g/t Au over 3.65 metre and includes a
narrow sample yielding 51.94 g/t Au over 4 centimetres.
- Grab sample from the
historic trench TR12 yielded 77.62 g/t Au.
- Channel C6 sampling
yielded 10.53 g/t Au over 3.30 metres.
Complete results are provided in the attached tables with uncut assays only
reported. Drilled intersections are provided as down hole widths. True widths
have not been determined at the time of the release.
"These are very encouraging results and a great beginning for Western
Warrior's exploration drilling program at the Wampum Prospect. Our team is
looking forward to a successful 2008 exploration program. Wampum is our current
focus but our 2008 exploration program is planned to expand into our greater
Pipestone property holdings. Drilling is ongoing and additional results from
the Wampum drilling are pending." commented Allen Raoul, Exploration
Manager of Western Warrior.
In preparation for this drill program, Western Warrior has re-sampled historic
drill holes and trenches and completed channel sampling and detailed mapping at
Wampum. Assays from Falconbridge (1986) drill holes yielded Au mineralization
up to 6.96 g/t Au over 2.3 metres. Grab samples from historic trenches yielded
up to 10.67 g/t Au in the Middle Zone, and 77.62 g/t Au in the North Zone.
Continuous sampling from historic trenches in the South Zone yielded up to 4.65
g/t Au over 3.65 metres. Channel sampling of the South Zone yielded up to 10.53
g/t Au over 3.30 metres. The mineralization is interpreted to occur in a +300
metre wide alteration area encompassing the South, Middle and North Zones and
is open along strike. A project location map, Wampum Prospect map, and detailed
Wampum South Zone map are attached.
Western Warrior's Pipestone Project is located in the Kenora Mining District
and is centered approximately 80 kilometres southeast of Kenora,
Ontario and 20 kilometres east of Nestor Falls.
The Nuinsco Resources Cameron
Lake deposit is located
immediately adjacent to the northern boundary of the project area and the Rainy
River Resources Zone 17 deposit is located west of the southwestern corner of
the property. The Wampum Project is located at the site of the old Wampum Lake
Mine and is one of over 23 strongly mineralized areas of the Pipestone Project
held 100% by Western Warrior.
Drill core is logged and mineralized intervals are split on site at Nestor Falls Ontario,
with split samples being shipped to Accurassay Laboratories in Thunder Bay for sample preparation and
analysis. Gold is analyzed utilizing the Fire Assay method with an AA finish on
a 30g sample. The exploration program is carried out under the direction of
Allen Raoul, Exploration Manager for Western Warrior. The information in this
release was prepared under the direction of Paul Nagerl, P. Geo., President and
Chief Executive Officer of Western Warrior, a qualified person as defined by
National Instrument 43-101.
Drill hole results and composites provided as uncut assays over drilled down hole
widths. True widths have not been determined at the time of the release.
