Redvers Gold, NW Ontario

  • TARGET TYPE: Gold and Molybdenum in felsic intrusions in newly recognized greenstone belt. Greenfields prospecting and mapping.
  • POTENTIAL: Good. Several gold and base metal showings but very little work completed on property.
  • RESULTS: 13.6 opt Au from showing in west and 1.1 opt Au in east from grab samples.
  • OWNERSHIP: 100% Whetstone Minerals

The Redvers property is located in the Kenora district and covers 15 kilometres of strike of a newly interpreted greenstone belt. The property lies 20 kilometers north of the Trans Canada Highway and has very good primary and secondary road access.

The geology is dominated by a suite of Archean tonalites, granodiorites, and quartz diorties hosted in altered volcanics. The intrusions host several Mo and Au-Ag showings, including the Clay Lake showing which has a historic assay of 13.6 opt Au in the volcanics (unconfirmed by Whetstone). In 2005, the Ontario Geological Survey examined many of the showings and collected one sample of 1.10 opt gold and 33.00 opt silver from a showing in Redvers Township.

In 2007, Whetstone completed a 2,492 line kilometers high resolution aeromagnetic survey and identified a thirteen kilometre east to west trending magnetic feature interpreted to represent a greenstone belt environment. Planned work for 2009 will focus on investigation for gold mineralization within the greenstone belt by mapping and sampling directed towards identification of drill targets.
